PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY, MAY 27, 2018

On this Holy Trinity Sunday, we reflect on the mystery of God as we gather to worship the Father who creates, the Son who redeems and the Holy Spirit who sanctifies. We pray for the grace to appreciate the gifts of the Trinity:   three persons, one God, without end.

We pray to the Lord                        R. Lord hear our prayer

In today’s gospel, Jesus in speaking to the apostles is also speaking to us, exhorting us to spread his message of love of God and love of neighbour. We pray today for the grace to hear, to understand and follow that message, keeping in mind Christ’s promise to be with us alway

We pray for the children who in recent weeks have received the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. We ask the Lord that they may be blessed in their lives and through participation in the life of the church, they be helped grow in faith and develop to their fullest potential.

We include in our prayers the children of this parish who on Friday received the sacrament of Confirmation in this church.  We pray that, inspired by the Holy Spirit, their minds and hearts be opened to the true message of Jesus.

We remember in our prayers this morning the two beautiful young women who have lost their lives through violence in the past ten days. We pray that they rest in peace in the arms of the Jesus and his loving mother, Mary, and that those who mourn them be comforted in their distress at this very sad and distressing time.

We pray for all those who were killed in this week’s plane tragedy in Cuba, for their families and relatives, and all who are mourning them.

We pray for all students currently preparing for exams, that they may be blessed and enlightened with the Spirit’s help.

We pray to the Lord                        R. Lord, hear our prayer

We bow our heads and remember in silence our own personal intentions and the intentions of those who have asked for our prayers.
