Pope Francis is to publish his first autobiography on Tuesday March 19th – entitled ‘Life: My Story Through History‘
In mostly his own words it will tell the story of his family origins as immigrants to Argentina in the early 20th century, his life as a Jesuit priest and of his own intellectual evolution as an apostle of ‘synodality’ – his dream of the whole church consciously ‘on mission’.
It will tell also of his dislike for the ‘splendour of palaces’ – where ‘manoeuvres’ happen – and his intention not to resign unless he becomes completely incapacitated.
And if that does happen, he says, his title will not be ‘Pope Emeritus’ but ‘Bishop Emeritus of Rome’.
