FEAST OF ST BRIGID, SECONDARY PATRON OF IRELAND

PRESIDER;

As we celebrate the  Feast of Brigid, your loyal servant , we come to you Father and ask that you hear our prayers.

MINISTER OF THE WORD

In today’s Gospel, Jesus encourages us to love, to be generous and to be forgiving.  We pray for the grace to listen to  his word so that we  may reap the reward of eternal life which he so clearly promises.

We pray to the Lord​     R. Lord, hear our prayer

Lord Jesus, you gave  St Brigid the desire to serve and not be served – may we spend our lives in the service of others.

We pray to the Lord​    R. Lord, hear our prayer

St Brigid was a women of peace who brought harmony where there was conflict. We pray that the mantle of her peace cover those in our world today who are troubled and anxious.

We pray to the Lord​    R. Lord, hear our prayer

We pray for all those who like St Brigid have dedicated their lives to feeding the hungry in our society, to housing the homeless, caring for the abandoned and bringing comfort to the sick.

We pray to the Lord​    R. Lord, hear our praye

We pray for a greater recognition of the role of women in the Church and that the very special talents they bring can be fruitful in spreading  the message of Christ, Our Saviour.

As we mark today the first day of Spring,  we renew our hope  and pray for the grace to encourage all whom we meet today.

We bow our heads and remember in silence our own personal intentions and the intentions of those who have asked for our prayers.

Lord, we ask that you hear our prayers and  with the coming of Spring you grant us new life and hope through faith in your infinite love and generosity.  We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
